YHS’s Production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Recognized With 8 Cappies Nominations!

Congratulations to the cast, crew, and orchestra of Disney’s The Little Mermaid  for earning eight nominations for the 2026 Cappie Awards - National Capital Area!

Cappies is a year-long program for theatre and journalism students through which students attend each other's shows, write reviews for publication, and, at the end of the season, nominate and vote on awards. 

We are so proud to share the list of nominees from YHS: 

• Hair and Makeup: Vivi Parsons, Peyton Olsen, and Julia Zaiets

• Props: Ava Check, Hunter Bombaci, and Natalie Gilmore

• Costumes: Vivi Parsons, Peyton Olsen, and Josie Hadges

• Ensemble in a Musical: Marney Shattuck, Brady Knott and Sarah Lennox (“Evil Trio”)

• Vocalist in a Male Role: Colin Lee

• Vocalist in a Female Role: Elizabeth Marshall 

• Supporting Actor in a Female Role in a Musical: Marney Shattuck

• Musical: Disney’s The Little Mermaid
