Yorktown High School’s highly regarded Theatre Arts program is committed to excellence and community. We are dedicated to teaching all aspects of theatre, including acting, directing, playwrighting, and all parts of technical theatre.
Students gain essential skills no matter what career they end up in. These include collaboration skills and a group-think mindset, clear communication, confidence in public speaking, and a community of equally dedicated and passionate individuals to belong in.
Finally, Yorktown produces two highly anticipated Mainstage shows a year that all students can audition for (Fall Play and Spring Musical) and a One Act festival that is entirely Theatre Arts student-run, with many student leadership opportunities.

Partnerships & Guest Artists
The Theatre Arts Program frequently works with guest artists and local theatre professionals to enhance student learning. The Yorktown Theatre Arts Program engages younger children through student-led workshops at local elementary and middle schools.
We are very fortunate to live in a county with a rich arts culture. Many arts organizations perform frequently in Arlington and the surrounding areas. We encourage you to attend the productions of other organizations.
