MEET ALANI KRAVITZ
Alani Kravitz has been teaching and acting professionally for the last 10 years. Born and raised in Washington, DC, she attended Syracuse University to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. With both of her parents being university professors in the arts, she knew teaching was her eventual goal. After graduating, she returned to her hometown of DC, settling in Arlington, to begin a career as a professional actor and singer. She has since been seen on many stages around the DMV, including Signature Theatre, 4615 Theatre (Recipient of the 2020 Helen Hayes Award for Emerging Theatre Company) Pinky Swear Productions, WSC Avant Bard, and much more.
While acting, Alani began her career in education as a Teaching Artist for companies such as Adventure Theatre, Smithsonian, Educational Theatre Company (ETC), and Moonlit Wings. Once she realized her teaching work was becoming more valuable to her than acting, she decided to go back to school, receiving her graduate degree from George Mason University’s Theatre Education program. In the fall of 2020, Alani scored a life-changing opportunity--do her Student Teaching semester at Yorktown High School, working with Carol Cadby. Despite all the teaching being virtual, Alani loved the Yorktown Theatre Arts program instantly. She is honored to inherit one of the best high school programs in the area, and is excited to bring her brand of Theatre education to Yorktown.
